Please remember that Tater Hill is a closed private mountain.
Please do not drive up the mountain just to check it out. There are plenty of spots along Hwy 421 to park and see the action. 
Non-competing pilots are welcome, here are the guidelines:
  • Pilots must have permission from Bubba Goodman to go up the hill. Paperwork is required prior to flying. Call Bubba @ 828-773-9433.
  • With limited space to park on top, During the comp--shuttle to launch ($10 per trip up the hill) will be arranged from Headquarters at the bottom of the mountain.
  •  All free flying fees collected during the comp go towards road and site maintenance.
  • 3-Day weekend flying rate is $50.00 (does not include shuttle or retrieve), single day flying rate is $20. 
  • Free flight during the competition will be limited to flights before the official launch window opens and after all competition pilots are on course line.
  • Bubba or other qualified meet officials have final say and will not hesitate to stop someone from flying if they think the pilot is not qualified.
  • During the comp, all pilots must have a valid USHPA rating/card. You are responsible for contacting your instructor and requesting a temporary card and rating. No exceptions.
  • If you are planning to visit/fly but not compete please call us so we can plan ahead for shuttle vehicles.
