If you're looking for a hotel stay, Boone and Mountain City TN are the options.

 Boone is more expensive, more crowded but more happening ~  Mtn City is closer, quieter but fewer amenities.

Camping options are: Vanderpool($$) which is midway between Boone and Tater Mtn
and  KOA($) which is a bit out of the way but not bad.

During the comp, limited camping spots are available midway up Tater. Ask Bubba for details.
